Portland man dies in crash on I-65 in Kentucky

SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. – A Portland man is killed in a car accident in southern Kentucky.

A two-car crash on I-65 in Simpson County at milepost 6 leaves one person dead just before 3 a.m. Sunday. According to Kentucky State Police, a car collided with the rear of a trailer attached to a Freightliner commercial vehicle, killing a passenger in the car.

KSP identified the deceased as 24-year-old Bartolo Freciso of Portland, a passenger in the car.

The driver of the car, 24-year-old Alberto Andres, also of Portland, went to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for his injuries. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

The commercial vehicle driver remained uninjured.
