Pedestrian-vehicle accident closes Crescent Road in Greenbelt

Greenbelt, MD – The section of Crescent Road extending from Lastner Lane to Northway has been closed to all traffic due to a pedestrian-vehicle accident. Officers are currently remaining on scene to carry out their investigation.

Despite the road closure, Lastner Lane remains open to traffic. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes to avoid the affected area.

  • North Bergen Police attend the annual Mayor’s Ball

    North Bergen, NJ – Members of the North Bergen Police Benevolent Association Locals 18 and 18a gathered Thursday for the annual Mayor’s Ball to honor Mayor Nicholas J. Sacco. The event showed police unions’ support for local government.

    Lt. Alex J. Barrios, the SOA president, and Corporal James Vangelakos, the PBA president, attended the ball on behalf of the police unions. They attended the ceremonial event together with Allen Pascual, Commissioner of Public Safety.

    The Mayor’s Ball provided an opportunity for various community leaders to collaborate and strengthen their relationships. Police Chief Robert J. Farley Jr. was also present on the occasion.

    The event was an important platform for police personnel and community leaders to network and engage in community-building activities.

  • Third graders visit the Newport News Police Department

    Newport News, VA – Third grade students from An Achievable Dream Academy recently visited the Newport News Police Department headquarters. The visit gave students a first-hand look at the work of the NNPD K-9 unit and drone team.

    During their visit, officers conducted demonstrations on K-9 obedience and bomb detection. The drone team demonstrated their heat detection skills.

    Students also had the opportunity to interact with the K-9 PJ, who warmly greeted the visiting children. The interaction was part of an educational experience aimed at promoting understanding of police operations.
