Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Newport

Officers are investigating a fatal shooting Saturday afternoon in Newport.

According to a news release from the Newport Police Department, a 42-year-old man arrived at the Newport Fire Department with an unknown injury at 3:30 p.m.

Paramedics began treating the man and discovered he had been shot in the chest.

Campbell County Police confirmed the shooting occurred along Isabella Street near Elm Street and W. 8th Street.

The man was taken to University of Cincinnati Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Newport police are investigating the shooting and believe it is an isolated incident. At this time, police believe there is no immediate threat to the public.
