Man stabbed in hip and ribs after altercation

A man was reportedly stabbed in the hip and ribs after an altercation with three other men in western Sydney.

Emergency services were called to David Lane in Blacktown following reports of an assault at around 10.25pm ​​on Saturday.

Paramedics treated a 38-year-old man for stab wounds to his hip and ribs.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.

Police believe the man was stabbed during an altercation with three men who fled the scene before police arrived.

A 33-year-old man was arrested following an investigation at Blacktown Police Station at around 3pm on Sunday.

He was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and driving a motor vehicle during the suspension period.

The 33-year-old was refused bail and will appear in Blacktown Magistrates Court on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
