At least 40 injured after Hezbollah drone strike in Israel: reports

At least 40 people were injured after Hezbollah terrorists reportedly launched a drone attack on Israel on Sunday.

One of the explosives-laden drones was successfully intercepted in the Western Galilee. But the other plane evaded Israeli air defenses and crashed in Israel’s Haifa region – exploding in the Binyamina area, Channel 12 and Ynet News reported.

According to Magen David Adom General Director Eli Bin, four of the injured are in critical condition and five others were seriously injured.

The Israel Defense Forces said all the wounded were taken to nearby hospitals while they investigated the drone strike, which civilians said did not raise an alarm before the explosion.

Following the attack in the Binyamins area, the Israeli Air Force confirmed that it had intercepted another drone fired from Lebanon.

Sunday’s attack is the latest in Hezbollah’s ongoing drone and missile attacks on the Jewish state. The terror group fired more than 300 rockets during Yom Kippur on Saturday.

While there were no casualties in either attack over the weekend, Hezbollah rocket fire on Thursday killed an Israeli couple as they walked their dogs in Kiryat Shmona.

The attacks continue to escalate as Israel carries out ground strikes in Lebanon aimed at destroying Hezbollah’s rocket launch sites and terror infrastructure around the border area.

The IDF boasted that its ground forces killed more than 100 Hezbollah terrorists and destroyed 50 launch pads and 60 command centers last week.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant promised that operations will continue until Israel is certain that Hezbollah will never be able to return to the border villages.

According to Israeli and Lebanese officials, the year-long conflict, which began after Hezbollah began firing on Israel on October 8 in solidarity with Hamas, has claimed about 2,229 lives and left more than 10,000 wounded.

Israel said the aim of its ground operation in Lebanon was to end Hezbollah’s ability to attack northern Israel and allow tens of thousands of Israeli evacuees to return home.
