‘No one is bigger than…’: Suryakumar Yadav reveals Gautam Gambhir’s message that fired up Team India

India captain Suryakumar Yadav reiterated his stance that no one is “bigger than the team” and adopted a “selfless” approach after hosts Bangladesh suffered a timid defeat in the last T20I. On the final night of the tour, India handed the visitors a crushing 133-run defeat, but it will be remembered for a long time. On Saturday, a selfless approach that has been a constant theme since the start of head coach Gautam Gambhir’s era. Sanju Samson epitomized the selfless and fearless approach with an impressive performance.

From 62 off 29 balls, Samson improved to 92 off 35 balls with five outstanding top deliveries in a row in the 10th over bowled by wrist-spinner Rishad Hossain.

After four runs, Samson drilled the ball over Mahedi Hasan Miraz to celebrate his 40-ball hundred. His heroics laid the foundation for India to reach 297/6, the second highest total in T20I history.

“I think we have achieved a lot as a team. Most importantly, as I said at the start of the series, I want selfless cricketers in my team. We want to be a selfless team, as Hardik.” [Pandya] said we just want to enjoy each other’s performance on the field and off the field and spend as much time as possible and that camaraderie continues on the field and we are having fun,” Suryakumar said in the post. Series presentation.

“The conversations in the team were like that. Gauti Bhai (Gautam Gambhir) said at the beginning of the series and also when we went to Sri Lanka, ‘Nobody is bigger than the team’. When you’re at 99 or 49 or something, when you feel like you have to hit the ball out of the park for the team, you have to hit it and Sanju did the same. Happy for him,” he added.

With some of India’s regular players including Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and others preparing for the three-Test T20I series against New Zealand, India had to reorganize their squad.

India’s squad was largely made up of all-rounders, with Suryakumar using seven bowling options in the second and third T20Is. There were also some changes in the batting order with young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy being promoted to number four in the second T20I in New Delhi.

Stressing on the need to be flexible in both batters and bowlers, Suryakumar said, “We need to be very flexible in batting and bowling as well.”

“Everyone has to do their part, there are only a few overs that can do it and the batters have to be very flexible. The way they showed this in the series was very commendable. Simply.” [have to] Keep the good habits and continue them on the field and just stay the same,” he added.

India’s next T20I assignment begins on November 8 when India tour South Africa for a four-match series.
