The IDF said two soldiers were seriously injured and several other soldiers were slightly and moderately injured in the attack.
In a post on Your families have been notified. An initial inspection revealed that an IDF tank, still under fire, backed several meters into a UNIFIL post and after the evacuation of the injured during the incident, the tank was deployed to cover the evacuation of the injured soldiers. “There was no threat to UNIFIL forces from IDF activity throughout the incident.”

Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to withdraw UN peacekeepers from southern Lebanon, citing the danger posed to both “UNIFIL soldiers and Israeli troops.”
Netanyahu said the refusal to evacuate UNIFIL soldiers effectively made them hostages of Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terror group operating in Lebanon.

In a video address on Sunday, Netanyahu reiterated: “We celebrate a year of the hard war forced upon us – the war of redemption against the axis of evil in Iran, which has risen to destroy us.”
“Furthermore, he emphasized Israel’s determination to secure its future and defeat its enemies. Highlighting the military’s successes in Lebanon, he reiterated: “We have eliminated Nasrallah and his leadership. Our heroic soldiers are destroying Hezbollah’s weapons, command centers and terror tunnels.” (ANI)
