Plot

The drama based on the novel by Min Jin Lee tells the story of a Korean immigrant family across four generations and how they survive. The aim is to tell the story of a woman and her family through the ages.

After arriving in Japan, Sun Ja finds peace with her new family members, although she misses her past in Busan. The humble family works hard together to earn a living. But everything is changing as the whips of war and change become rampant. Ko Han Su warns Sun Ja about the upcoming changes.

End

Pachinko Season 2 ends in the 1950s storyline after Noa finds out that Ko Han Su is his real father. After confronting Han Su, he visits Sun Ja to say goodbye to her one last time and asks her to take care of her. Although he doesn’t tell his mother the truth, Sun Ja decides something is wrong and follows him, but Noa is nowhere to be seen.

Everyone searches tirelessly for him, but he is nowhere to be found. The final scene shows Noa changing his name to a Japanese one, working in a pachinko parlor, sweeping the floors, and abandoning his family and his future.

In 1989 Tokyo, Solomon gets what he wants and prepares to present his project. As he stands up to give the lecture, his father Mozasu watches as his son takes a path that hurts the family’s feelings and the feelings of the immigrants and their past.
