NH66: Tragic accident: Young person dies after falling into road construction pit on NH66 |

Kochi: A young man died after falling into a pit dug Road construction work at KodungallurThrissur.
The deceased was identified as Nikhil George (24), from Kurisinkal, Azhikode, Thrissur. He was cycling on the Kodungallur-Kottapuram section of National Highway-66 around 9.30 pm on Saturday when the accident occurred.
According to the FIR filed by Kodungallur police, the accident occurred near Gourishankar signal in Methala. George accidentally fell into the pit dug as part of the NH renovation. The teenager suffered serious injuries and was immediately taken to hospital. He was rushed to Kodungallur Taluk Hospital and was declared dead around 10.15 pm.
The police opened an investigation into the death. The body was handed over to relatives on Sunday after an autopsy.
