Police launch murder investigation after man shot dead in Barking | London

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in east London.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called at around 4.35am on Sunday to reports of an injured man on Linton Road, Barking. A man believed to be around 30 years old was found with a gunshot wound.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and police said next of kin had been informed. The crime scene remained as of Sunday afternoon.

Police said there had been no arrest and “investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.”

Acting DCS Lewis Basford, who is responsible for policing in Barking, said: “I understand the shock and concern that local residents will be feeling following this incident, but I would like to reassure them that a team of experienced detectives are already working diligently “To clarify the situation.” Investigate the events that led to this shooting and determine who is responsible.

“Residents will experience increased police activity in and around the Linton Road area and I would ask for their patience while officers carry out vital work. If you have any concerns or information that could assist the investigation, please contact one of them or contact police.”
