The real reason One-Punch Man’s S-Class hero changed his name is actually hilarious, but Western fans missed it

One Punch Man adds a wide range of lovable, strange or just plain weird characters to its ever-growing superhero team. These include characters far beyond Saitama, with quirky characters like King or Mumen Rider being fan favorites in their respective rights. However, as the series progresses, certain heroes are renamed to change their image. Isamu, known as Child Emperor In One Punch Manchanged its name in the last few chapters for some weird reason, and its colleagues are still trying to adapt more than a dozen chapters later.

Child Emperor was one of the leading S-Class members of the Hero Association, ranking 5th, which put him in incredible company. However, at the end of the day, even an amazing superhero who is praised for his brilliance is still a child who can easily be goaded on by his peers a truly unfortunate second meaning in its original Japanese name. While Isamu’s new name in One Punch Man is certainly trying to project a new image for him. It may not be clear to non-manga readers why he felt the change was necessary.

One-Punch Man anime fans are yet to witness Child Emperor’s name change

The S-Class genius is not immune to embarrassment

Isamu, also known as Child Emperor, quickly revealed his name change in the Neo Heroes Arc to Wild Emperor or Diabolical Emperor in the VIZ localization. due to the Japanese translation of Child Emperor, Dōtei, which also means “male virgin”. He was teased mercilessly when other children found out about his name, and Isamu hastily removed any association with the superhero moniker before the events One Punch Man redrawn chapters. In One Punch Man’s In the Neo Heroes Saga with the ongoing Ninjas arc, fans get new insights into the Wild Emperor after defecting to the Neo Heroes.

While Dōtei is pronounced the same as “maiden”,
Isamu’s rename, Hidōtei, is pronounced virtually the same as “non-virgin.”

The name seems surprisingly unimaginative coming from such a bright mind, and it’s a touchy subject as the characters introducing his new persona resist the urge to say “Child Emperor” when describing his partnership with the Neo Announce Heroes. Isamu was essentially the first high-profile addition to the Neo Heroesa group whose importance will increase as Yusuke Murata’s manga adapts ONE’s webcomic covering this story arc. Although other heroes are still getting used to this new name, Isamu is given a new chance to reinvent himself One Punch Man.

While Bat and Isamu know each other from their time at the HA, including in the last chapter, Bat stammers about calling him “Child Emperor” before using his new nickname. However, he can easily get acquainted with newcomers to the organization such as Ryumon, Axel, Infelsinave, Zaedats and Wavygyaza.

While “One-Punch Man” centers on an overpowered protagonist, many of its characters have also displayed absurd levels of strength.

The chapter specifically looks at his moment with Wavygyaza, an idol of the group, in which he expresses his admiration for her as a fan. When he introduces himself as “Wild” or “Diabolic Emperor,” she doesn’t question it and is mostly excited to work with a fan without mentioning his past. While Isamu may not be able to fully escape his past and humiliation at the hands of others thanks to his unfortunate previous identity as a “Child Emperor”, he is given a new chance with a new team, although the Neo-Heroes will soon present problems of their own One Punch Man.
