Stolen car rams Oakley police vehicle, drunk driving arrest also made

At approximately 6:10 p.m. Saturday, an Oakley police officer was struck while pursuing a stolen vehicle on E Cypress Road in the Town of Oakley.

While police attempted to stop the vehicle, an officer was struck by the suspect vehicle, which had two occupants, on E. Cypress Road near Knightsen Avenue. One of them suffered injuries that required a rescue helicopter. No further information about the injuries was provided

Chief of the Contra Costa County Fire Department Battalion Jeff Burris confirmed they responded to a vehicle accident involving three patients; One of the victims in the accident was an Oakley police officer. One of the civilian patients was flown to an area hospital. There is no word on whether the Oakley police officer suffered any injuries.

Meanwhile, according to Officer Emanuel Mendoza Martinez From the California Highway Patrol, they assisted the Oakley Police Department with the vehicle accident following a pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

The city of Oakley sent out the following message after the crash:

Via Oakley: Warning: East Cypress Road is closed at Knightsen Avenue due to a head-on collision.

Avoid the area and find an alternative route. (6:50 p.m.)

As of Sunday morning, Oakley police have not released any information about the accident or confirmed whether any arrests have been made or whether the vehicle has been confirmed stolen.

Arrest made for drunk driving

In another incident, CHP Officer Martinez-Mendoza on scene observed a vehicle driving in the field of a construction site. They made contact with the driver and then conducted a field sobriety check. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. The driver of the vehicle has not been identified.
