Around 100 rockets fired at northern Israel, 2 injured, IDF intercepts drones from Lebanon

New Delhi, October 13: According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), around a hundred rockets were fired from Lebanon into northern Israel. In the north of the city of Jadeidi-Makr, two people were slightly injured in one of these rocket attacks. In addition, the IDF reported on Saturday the interception of two drones that were launched from Lebanon towards Israel.

According to media reports, the Israeli military intercepted about five projectiles fired from Lebanon on Sunday. Sirens wailed throughout northern Israel, including in Haifa. According to the IDF, Hezbollah fired 320 projectiles from Lebanon into Israel on Saturday.

On Friday, two drones were fired from Lebanon toward central Israel, one of which hit a retirement home in Herzliya, but no casualties were reported. T

The Lebanese army reported that two Lebanese soldiers were killed and three others injured in an Israeli attack on an army post in southern Lebanon on Friday.

In response to the escalating violence, the IDF declared several villages in the Western Galilee a military exclusion zone. Israeli airstrikes targeted areas in southern Lebanon, including the city of Nabatea and the Bekaa Valley.

IDF Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee urged residents of southern Lebanese villages to evacuate north of the Awali River, warning that those near Hezbollah’s weapons or facilities were at risk.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 2,225 people have been killed and 10,524 injured in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah since October 8.

Meanwhile, media reported that the US is preparing to deploy the THAAD missile defense system in Israel in anticipation of possible retaliatory attacks from Iran.

There is no fixed date for the deployment. Reports suggest that Israel may not attack Iran’s nuclear facilities in response to Tehran’s recent missile attack, but military targets and energy infrastructure could be considered for future attacks.

In Syria, the IDF reported that a land-launched drone crashed in the northern Golan Heights on Friday evening, causing no casualties.

According to Reuters, Israeli air strikes on Saturday and overnight in Gaza killed at least 29 people in the central and northern regions. A week earlier, the IDF launched an offensive in Jabalia, advancing with tanks to attack Hamas infrastructure. Palestinian health authorities estimate 150 people have been killed in the area over the past week.

Hezbollah claimed it was attacking Israeli forces attempting to advance into the village of Ramiya in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that 15 more people were killed in three Israeli strikes in Deir Bella, Al Maaysra and Barja on Sunday. Five hospitals in Baalbek and the Bekaa Valley were damaged by Israeli airstrikes.
