Houston police are investigating a fatal accident after a car crashed into a home in Spring Branch

SPRING BRANCH, TX — Houston police are investigating after a man was killed after crashing his car into a home.

According to police, this happened around 12:30 Sunday morning at a home on Emnora Lane off Hollister Road in the Spring Branch area.

When they got to the house they found the BMW burning on the side of the house. Paramedics were tired of performing life-saving measures on the driver but said the driver, a man they believed to be in his 50s, had died.

When the police tried to investigate the circumstances of the accident, they learned that there had been strange circumstances surrounding the driver in the past.

“Some neighbors had said this person lived nearby,” Lt. Willkens from HPD. “He actually knocked on several doors and claimed he had other people’s keys. And so they actually called the police on a suspicious person because he was acting strange. I don’t think they even knew it was his neighbor at the time. Of course we put everything together. We found out he originally knocked on the doors of his neighbor’s house, got into his vehicle and then crashed into the house.”

Police say an autopsy will be performed.
