Woman from Odisha sexually abused and abandoned in National Capital

New Delhi: A woman from Odisha was allegedly sexually assaulted and found abandoned semi-conscious in Sarai Kale Khan area of ​​southeast Delhi.

The incident came to light after a passerby spotted the girl and informed the police about the incident around 3.30am on Friday.

On receiving the news, a team of Delhi Police immediately rushed to the accident site and took her to AIIMS Trauma Center.

According to police, the 34-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted and abandoned is a resident of Odisha. She left her hometown a year ago and has been living in Delhi ever since.

The victim was staying with another woman at Katwaria Sarai in Delhi and was reportedly asked to leave the apartment in August due to arguments and was forced to sleep on the streets in Delhi for the past few days.

According to the CCTV footage, she was seen sleeping near an ATM machine for the last two days.

The police official said the victim’s parents had been informed and she remained under surveillance.

Efforts are being made to identify the accused through the CCTV footage and other technical surveillance measures.
