Man dies after CBD attack

A Seddon man has died in hospital following an attack in the CBD on Wednesday, October 9.

The 44-year-old was walking from Flinders Street onto Elizabeth Street when he was approached by a man and hit in the head.

He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, but died.

Homicide detectives are appealing for public assistance in finding Todd Menegaldo after a man was seriously assaulted in the CBD earlier this week.

Detectives have conducted an extensive search in recent days to locate Menegaldo.

He is described as being around 180-185cm tall and slim.

Menegaldo is also nicknamed “Rooster” and is a black and white cross Staffordshire terrier.

Police have released images and video surveillance footage of Menegaldo in the hope that someone can provide information about his current whereabouts.

He is known to frequent the Melbourne CBD, particularly the areas around Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street stations, as well as the Mildura and Bendigo areas.

He was last seen wearing a purple zip-up sweater, dark jeans and a yellow hat.

Anyone who sees Menegaldo is urged not to approach him and to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
