Tragic end for Bollywood’s political ally: Baba Siddique shot dead

In a grim development, Baba Siddique, a former minister in Maharashtra and a celebrated figure in Bollywood circles, was fatally shot in Mumbai. Siddique, 66, was widely praised for procuring essential medicines for patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Siddique was not just a political warrior who represented Bandra (West) in the Maharashtra Assembly thrice; He was also a popular host of extravagant Iftar parties attended by leading Bollywood personalities such as Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

His strategic move to the NCP earlier this year strengthened the party’s prospects in Mumbai’s Muslim districts ahead of key elections. Tragically, Siddique’s life was abruptly ended by gunfire near his son’s office, leaving behind a rich legacy in both the political and cultural spheres.
