Philippines: Three dead in road accident

Manila, Oct 13 A sedan collided with a semi-truck in Cebu province in the central Philippines, killing three people and seriously injuring another, police said.

Police said the car’s 20-year-old male driver and his two male passengers, aged 18 and 22, died in the accident, which occurred in the town of Pinamungajan at around 3:20 a.m. local time on Saturday, the reported Xinhua News Agency.

The seriously injured passenger, an 18-year-old man, was fighting for his life at a local hospital.

Police said the car was traveling south from Toledo City when it veered into the oncoming lane and collided with an oncoming truck. Police alleged that the driver of the car and his three passengers, all students, were under the influence of alcohol.

The truck driver and his colleague suffered no injuries.
