In Transcarpathia, the illegal channel for transporting conscientious objectors abroad was closed

In Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia), authorities have dismantled a canal for the illegal transport of conscript men to Hungary.

The Zakarpattia regional prosecutor’s office reported this on Telegram, as quoted by Ukrinform.

“Under the procedural supervision of the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor’s Office, another illegal channel for the transport of conscripts to EU countries has been eliminated,” the statement said.

On October 11, law enforcement authorities in the Uzhhorod district arrested three people who tried to smuggle a man into Hungary for a fee. As part of the criminal investigation under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, those arrested will soon be officially charged.

The suspects include two Chop residents and a foreigner. One of the local residents was responsible for organizing the illegal transport, while his accomplices acted as guides and accompanied the “client” to the border area.

The cost of such services was reportedly $6,000 per person.

The operation was carried out by prosecutors in cooperation with investigators from the Uzhhorod district police and employees of the Chop border command.

In related news, police in Mykolaiv recently uncovered a mobilization evasion plan in which a head of one of the district’s military recruiting centers in the Kherson region and his three accomplices devised a plan to illegally exempt conscript men from service by introduced false information into military records.
