Fatal motorcycle accident leads to hour-long SigAlert on the 101 Freeway in Studio City

A fatal motorcycle accident triggered an hours-long SigAlert on the 101 Freeway in Studio City Saturday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred in the southbound lanes near Lankershim Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard around 3:30 p.m.

Although the circumstances of the accident remain unclear, investigators believe that a motorcyclist was hit and thrown from his vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has not yet been identified.

CHP officers issued a SigAlert that closed all lanes except lane #5 for several hours.

SkyCal flew over the crash site, where a silver sedan with heavy windshield damage was parked near what appeared to be a covered body.
