UCLA Violates Big Ten Availability Reporting Policy – Twin Cities

PASADENA, Calif. – Big Ten programs are responsible for providing accurate lists of which players will not play and which are questionable whether they will play in games. It appears that UCLA violated the standard on Saturday.

The Bruins listed junior receiver Titus Mokiao-Atimalala as out on their pregame availability report, but the junior receiver played against the Gophers on Saturday night at Rose Bowl Stadium. Mokiao-Atimalala had a 13-yard reception on the final drive of the second quarter that gave the Bruins a 10-0 lead over Minnesota.

Since the start of the 2023 season, Big Ten schools have been required to submit reports to the conference office for publication; The conference then publishes the report approximately two hours before kick-off.

It is unclear what penalty UCLA will face for violating the availability reporting policy.

Last week, Southern California coach Lincoln Riley, a new member of the Big Ten, was asked about availability reports around the league and he said he felt they were a good thing if programs were honest about them.

In 2023, Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti issued a statement regarding availability reports: “The well-being of our students, coaches and staff and the integrity of our competitions are of the utmost importance.” Improved transparency through availability reports and strengthening the partnership with US Integrity (USI). our efforts to protect participants in our games and the integrity of the games themselves. I am grateful for the cooperation of our schools, coaches and administrators.”
