Mumbai: The police team probing the Baba Siddique murder case said a total of six shots were fired at him from two pistols, according to the preliminary information they gathered. Three of the bullets hit Baba Siddique in the chest while one bullet hit the leg of the person sitting in the car with him.

Although Baba Siddique’s car was bulletproof, the bullet penetrated the glass. Police sources therefore said that the attackers must have sophisticated pistols that were handed over to the police. Currently, police have found a pistol and bullet casings at the spot.

“This pistol is said to be sophisticated and modern,” the police sources added. According to the police sources, the attack occurred when Baba Siddique was leaving his son Zeeshan’s office. “As today was Vijayadashami, processions of the Goddess took place” through this area. Therefore, there was the sound of musical instruments and crackers in this area. It turned out that the attackers took advantage of this and shot Baba Siddique. “After this incident, Baba Siddique’s followers gathered outside Lilavati Hospital,” sources said.

Currently, senior officers of the Mumbai Police are at the spot and investigations have begun. Some police teams are investigating the incident. Sources further said that Baba Siddique received a death threat two weeks ago. He was then given Y security by the police. Accordingly, a police officer was stationed at Baba Siddique’s house. After Baba Siddique’s murder, a heavy police force was deployed in Khetwadi Junction area of ​​northwest Mumbai. Police have barricaded the place where Baba Siddique was shot.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the trial of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique’s murder case will be held in a fast-track court. The chief minister also said that encounter specialist Daya Nayak would investigate the incident.

He said, “Mumbai Police has been directed to maintain law and order and they should ensure that no one takes law and order into their hands. The gang war should not be revived. Strict action should be taken against those who indulge in such incidents.”

Meanwhile, NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule said in a statement: “Shocking news! Baba Siddique is no more. He was reportedly shot. This is absolutely unacceptable when a member of the ruling government alliance is insecure and is killed in his own son’s office.”, that too in Mumbai, it says volumes about the law and order situation in Maharashtra!”

NCP-SP MP Rohit Pawar said, “The news of senior leader and former minister Baba Siddique’s death due to sacking is very shocking. I share the sadness that has struck the Siddique family. A heartfelt tribute!” The sacking of NCP leader and former minister Baba Siddique took place at Khetwadi junction in Bandra on Saturday evening, amid darkness when the street lights were off and there were no CCTV cameras in the area.
