Bundaberg drowning tragedy: Child dies after being pulled from backyard pool

A young child has died after being pulled unconscious from a backyard pool in Queensland.

The three-year-old boy was rushed to Bundaberg Hospital at 6.41pm but could not be saved and was pronounced dead.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the incident was not suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

The tragedy came after a coroner called for greater safety campaigns, pool inspections and fence breach laws in Tasmania this week.

She investigated the death of a four-year-old boy who drowned in an unfenced pool in the front yard of his home, was not properly supervised and had no swimming lessons.
