The Inter Milan star could start the Nations League showdown between Belgium and France despite fears of injury

Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram could start for France in the Nations League duel against Belgium despite a slight injury fear.

This emerges from today’s print edition of the Milan newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews.

Both Inter and France have been keeping an eye on Thuram’s condition in recent days.

The Frenchman suffered a minor injury during Inter’s Serie A clash against Torino last weekend.

This was the result of a heavy challenge from Granata defender Guillermo Maripan. The Chilean received a red card for this tackle.

Maripan’s studs touched Thuram’s ankle, causing the Inter striker pain.

This certainly didn’t stop Thuram from putting his stamp on the game. He scored a game-winning hat trick, with all three of his goals coming after Maripan’s foul.

But in the second half the Frenchman asked to be substituted.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi confirmed that this was due to the pain the player continued to feel after the tackle in the first half.

Inter’s medical staff examined Thuram after Saturday’s game.

Then it was time for the 27-year-old to join the France squad for the international break. Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps decided to call him up.

French medical staff also examined Thuram.

As with the Inter employees, despite some complaints, they did not detect any injury to the striker.

However, Deschamps decided not to leave Thuram in the starting line-up in Thursday’s Nations League game against Israel.

The Inter striker didn’t come off the bench either.

According to Gazzetta, Thuram is training normally.

And in fact, according to the newspaper, there is every chance that the Frenchman will be in the starting line-up in his country’s second Nations League game against Belgium during the international break.
