MNPD: 9 injured, 1 dead in Nashville shooting near TSU | News










NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Nashville police report one is dead and nine are reported dead are injured after a shooting near the Tennessee State University campus at Jefferson Street and 27th Avenue North.

Police say the crime scene is safe and so are the victims Be transported to hospitals.

Witnesses say chaos broke out and people began to flee when the gunfire began.

A witness said the area was full of people celebrating homecoming at Tennessee State University.

There are no further details available about those injured or what may have triggered the violence been released.

“And all I heard was a whole bunch of gunshots. I was so close I thought it was just fireworks, but it ended up being gunshots,” said Jashawna Rucker, a witness. “And everyone just ran. And I started running and almost fell. I thank God it wasn’t me.”
