“Natural Singer” looked at South Korea’s first national drama “Y

“Jungnyeon”Kim Tae-ri entered the world of the first Korean drama and heralded the birth of a new “life’s work”.

The first episode of tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Jungnyeon” (Writer: Choi Hyo-bi, Director: Jung Ji-in), which premiered on the 12th, tells the story of Yoon Jeong-nyeon (Kim Tae- ri) tells. Who had the qualities of a born singer but led an ordinary life as a fish seller in her hometown of Mokpo, entered the world of national dramas with a fateful opportunity.

Young-su, who worked in the sea in Mokpo with her mother Yong-rye (Moon So-ri) and sister Jeong-ja (Oh Kyung-hwa), sold fish and continued her hard life, knew that her talent for Mit Ton could make money, but she lived a taboo because she used hate speech.

Then one day Young-soo came to the market and got angry with the bad boy Chang-ho (Oh Dae-hwan), who threatened to pay the seat tax and took out his only weapon called “Sori”. In the middle of the market, which was turned into chaos by bullies and vendors smashing their shelves, Young-soo suddenly started singing “Namwonsanseong Fortress,” and soon those caught up in Young-soo’s sounds forgot, the previous disturbance and listened little by little. This also applied to Changjo. After finishing the sound, Young-soo insisted, “Once you hear the sound, pay for the sound.” Chang-ho, who had nothing to say, left the room and promised the next thing.

And there were some unexpected people who saw this scene. Moon Ok-kyung (Jeong Eun-chae) and Seo Hye-rang (Kim Yoon-hye), the stars of the largest national theater company at the time, came to Mokpo for a tour and witnessed the tumult. Among them, Ok-kyung discovered a talent in Min Young-hee’s imposing nature and outstanding tone, which dominated the audience and invited him to his performance with a desire to enter the world of national drama.

After learning that Ok-kyung, who showed interest in him, was a superstar in the national drama world called “Prince of Maeran” and that he could live a rich life if he became a popular national drama actor. And “I have to see with my own eyes what a gukgeuk is to make money like this,” said Ko Min-yong, who visited the Maeran Gukgeuk Company concert hall with a slightly secular attitude and was overwhelmed by the ecstasy in front of her and the enormous charisma of Okgyeong.

At the same time, Ok-kyung successfully completed her performance in Mokpo but ran into trouble. It became the target of an article dealing with suspected opium dosing by a popular actor from a famous Korean theater group. Kang So-bok (Ramiran), Mae-ran’s leader, said he would deny the contents of the anonymously written article, but threatened Ok-kyung to stay in Mokpo until the case calmed down, and then returned there back to Seoul with the Gukgeuk Company.

Ok-kyung’s life in Mokpo became an opportunity for Young-soo. The pensioner, who was so immersed in Gukgeuk that he couldn’t sleep at night, visited Okgyeong as soon as he woke up the next morning, and Okkyung hinted at the possibility of becoming a Gukgeuk actor by saying, “You’re a natural.” ” Singer.’ Young-soo was thrilled by Ok-kyung’s praise, but became conflicted when he remembered his mother speaking out against him. However, he also decided to escape the boring reality of retirement after seeing the behavior of Chang-ho and his gang, who were back operating in the market for a while. Then I go to Okgyeong and “Even if death is in my mother’s hands, let’s make a lot of money with this skill.” He asked for help and said, “Get out of this Mokpo floor and split up to Seoul, please.” tell me.” I need to build muscle.” Then retired Okgyeong began secret tutoring to audition for researchers at Maeran Gukgeuk Company, and the vague dreams gradually became clearer as they inadequately learned dance and acting.

But when the audition was imminent, I was dead. Yongrye discovered the script of Young-hee’s “Chunhyangjeon” and learned that she had been preparing to become a gukgeuk actress. Yongrye was so angry that after fierce resistance, she locked him in a warehouse. The audition was just around the corner, but the retirement age was stuck in a warehouse and couldn’t be postponed, and Ok-kyung even went to the pavilion the day before he left for Seoul, worried about the reduced retirement age. Jeongja, who was in pain because he couldn’t reach retirement age under Yongrye’s threat, decided to keep his dream of retirement age and deal with any aftereffects, opened the tightly locked warehouse door and sent him into the arms of Okkyung, who was approaching retirement age waited. As a result, the first episode ended with the pensioner, who decided to run away at night, believing in his dream of becoming a national drama actor, entering the audition hall of the Maeran National Theater Company and questions arose about what would happen until retirement age, the gave up everything and joined the Maeran National Theater Company.

On the other hand, at the beginning of the show, the story of Gyeongseong and singer Chae Gong-seon (Lee Ga-eun) in 1931 was revealed. Gongseon, who lived with his father (Lee Deok-hwa) and was committed to the master singer Imjin’s (Kang Ji-eun) house in order to avoid Um Dong-seol-han, asked Imjin to become a student despite his father’s objection, and further flaunted his natural talent in front of Imjin and his student (Choi Jeong-woon), which raises questions about who the girl named Gongseon is. Additionally, Yongrye, who was upset about her retirement age for speaking in the piece, was seen pulling out a photo of Gongseon and Imjin’s student in her arms, raising a question mark over Yongrye and Gongseon’s relationship.

On the other hand, “Jungnyeoni” caused exclamations by creating beautiful and structured stories about actors wearing seemingly perfect clothes, vivid 1950s settings and sensational national drama productions, catchy traditional Korean musical melodies and interesting narratives. Kim Tae-ri, in particular, has perfectly digested the glow of retirement that comes with talent and star quality, as if all sorts of potential would burst out of eggs at any moment, and turned her expectations of the returned Kim Tae-ri into trust.

At the same time, the audience rating of “Jeongnyeon” started well, averaging 5.7%, rose to 6.8% in the national budget, and reached up to 5.9%, while ranking first in general cable television. (Based on paid platforms that integrate cable, IPTV and satellite/Courtesy of Nielsen Korea)
