Men’s soccer can’t slow the Southwest attack

McPHERSON, Kan. – There were numerous goals from both sides in the first half, but the Moundbuilders were able to pull away from the Bulldogs in the second halfnd to claim a 4-2 win on Saturday afternoon (October 12).

Southwestern started the game red-hot, scoring goals in the fifth and 13th minutes in the first two games of the competition to take an early 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded quickly Anthony Pereira took advantage of a penalty in the 19th minute to make it 2-1. Pereira struck again in the 26th minute after receiving a lovely pass from the middle Nathan Van Wyck to tie it at 2.

The momentum built by the Bulldogs was dashed in the 33rd minute as the Moundbuilders regained the lead and cashed in again in the 68th minute to extend the lead to 4-2 and secure the win.

The Bulldogs remain at home for their next game against Bethany College on Wednesday, October 16th. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m
