Peapod is back from the dead

Clarkie improv group The Peapod Squad’s “Back from the Dead” show on Friday the 13th took place on September 13th at 218 Jefferson. Charlie XCX serenaded the audience as they packed into the auditorium like sardines. Due to possible fire hazards, the venue was moved from the Grind to Jefferson at the last minute, but this did not impact attendance at all. Every seat was taken and people were standing in the back and sitting in the aisles to watch this not-to-be-missed show.

The Peapod Squad started the show by asking the audience to scream mean things. When they felt they had been insulted enough, the group continued the show by discussing the change of venue. This led to The Squad leading the crowd in chants of “No more grind.” The show continued with The Peapod Squad playing various improv games using suggestions from the audience. The first of these was a debate. The audience shouted all kinds of prompts and The Peapod Squad settled on a cider versus perry debate. Team Pear Cider had the pear phones from “iCarly” and “Victorious,” while Team Apple Cider introduced a man whose father was killed by pear cider. Other sketches from The Peapod Squad’s show had characters and themes such as Dobby from Harry Potter, crazy grandparents, roller skating, Burning Man and more.

There’s a magical feeling when you’re in a room full of people laughing at the same thing. The Peapod crew definitely has the ability to work this magic as they had the entire audience laughing throughout. It goes without saying that seeing the Peapod Squad perform is an experience not to be missed and I would recommend you check out their next show.
