Tragic accident in Haunted Hilltop | Local News

UPDATE: The student killed in the Haunted Hilltop tragedy has been confirmed to be a student at the Chattanooga School for Liberal Arts.

The school created one GoFundMe to honor the student and support his family during this time.

PREVIOUS STORY: The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and Highway 58 Fire Department responded to a call at Haunted Hilltop that a child had been hit by a tractor.

On Friday, October 11, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers learned from a companion that the child was hiding in the bushes as a hayride passed by. His intention was to scare the hay riders.

As he jumped to get onto the trailer, it is possible that he slipped and fell under the wheels. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both The Haunted Hilltop and HCSO have expressed their thoughts and condolences to the child’s family.

“The HCSO family extends our thoughts and condolences to the family of the deceased youth as well as the other witnesses to the tragic event. We ask the community to also keep this family in their prayers during this difficult time,” the press release said.

Because the incident involved children, no further information is available at this time.

PREVIOUS STORY: A young child was struck and killed in a hayride accident involving a trailer at the Haunted Hilltop.

According to the Haunted Hilltop Facebook page, the child was hiding in nearby bushes. As the trailer passed, he jumped out and tried to hold on to the side of the trailer. Since no one noticed what was going on, he was hit.

Haunted Hilltop expressed that their hearts and prayers are with the family. They are now closed from Saturday October 12th to Saturday October 19th.

We will release more information as it becomes clear.
