Harris, Trojans complete USI behind dominant attack

LITTLE ROCK – The Little Rock volleyball team used a dominant defensive performance to defeat Southern Indiana on Friday night, then flipped the script with a solid offensive performance on Saturday afternoon, picking up another 3-1 victory over USI and winning the season series at the Jack Stephens Center.

Little Rock (10-10 overall, 5-2 OVC) hit .257 overall with 54 kills on just 16 errors and dominated the first and third sets before rallying late in the fourth set, scoring six of the final eight points and the Match won with scores: 25-10, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23. The Trojans improve to 4-1 at home and have won three of their last four games to move into sole possession of third place in the conference.

Kaila Harris had a game-best 16 kills on .316 hits, Jeila Fullerton Added 12 kills and Bella Cherry had 10. Dariana Valencia (21), Kaylee Smith (18) and Andrea Roman (9) provided 48 of Little Rock’s 49 assists. The Trojans hit .414 in the opening set and .341 in the third set. Harris and Smith also added a pair of aces each.

Roman led the defense with 27 digs and Fullerton completed her 10Th Double-double with 17 digs and Valencia recorded her seventh-place finish with 10 digs. Harris also received ten praises for her second double-double of the season. Vivian Lucumi And A’lanae Margaritha each had three blocks, while Harris, Crismeyli Rodriguez And Jaycee Kennedy everyone had a pair.

Little Rock heads to a two-game series next weekend at Tennessee State (5-14, 1-5) on Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday (2 p.m.) in Nashville, Tennessee.
