Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr opens up about Stephen Curry’s injury scare

The Golden State Warriors suffered a scare when star Stephen Curry had to withdraw from their preseason game against the Sacramento Kings due to a hand injury. Coach Steve Kerr then gave an important update on Curry’s condition.

Curry started the game strong, recording 6 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block and 1 three-pointer in the 16 minutes before his injury. His absence was felt, but the Warriors showed their competitiveness even without their star player.

He left the game in the second quarter and did not return, causing alarm among fans. Kerr clarified that Curry’s removal was a precautionary measure and that there was no significant cause for concern.

“I was assured at half-time that he was fine. X-rays were negative. It wasn’t too worrying. But yeah, you always get nervous when he gets hurt,” Kerr told reporters, according to Clutch Points.

Klay Thompson’s departure

In Curry’s absence, the Warriors still managed to defeat the Kings 109-106, with Moses Moody leading the way with 23 points. The team will closely monitor Curry’s recovery and hope he can return soon. Additionally, Klay Thompson’s departure from Golden State marked the end of an era alongside Curry and Draymond Green, in which the trio won four NBA championships together. Thompson has decided to pursue new opportunities in Dallas.

Curry revealed he learned of Thompson’s move when he arrived at Warriors training camp. Reflecting on the news, he told ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk: “Put it this way: He can ask, but I don’t have to listen.”

He added: “[Klay] He usually entered the practice facility coming off his boat wearing his Dockers, no matter what outfit he was wearing. He just had a presence about him, a lightness when he walked into the room. And his one-liners were always great. … Life brings many surprises in sports. They are used to people changing locations and teams. [However]We never really thought it would end until about a week before he decided to sign with Dallas.”

Thompson left a lasting legacy with the Warriors during his time with the team. He was a key player in the four championships won.
