Accident on Highway 168 near Palmyra causes total loss, driver airlifted to hospital

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a single-vehicle accident occurred on the eastern edge of Palmyra, Missouri, along Highway 168 at approximately 11:05 p.m. on October 11, 2024.

The accident involved a 2017 Ford Focus driven by 28-year-old Douglas E. Bross of Palmyra, Missouri. Bross was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The vehicle was totaled and was towed from the scene by Heartland Towing.

Bross suffered moderate injuries and was flown to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

The accident occurred when the westbound Ford Focus left the right side of the road, rolled several times and ended up on its roof.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Trooper Smith, Trooper Hirner, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Palmyra Police Department, Marion County Ambulance and Palmyra Fire Department.
