19-year-old arrested after firing a shot and causing bodily harm at a local soccer game

A 19-year-old was arrested after officers responded to a shots fired call at Ooltewah High School Friday evening. The game was between two visiting teams and the Ooltewah High School team was not involved.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., officers with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded near the tennis courts at Ooltewah High.

HCSO School Resource Deputies (SRD) were the first to respond on scene as the crowd dispersed. HCSO deputies spoke with a suspect, Conner Scott Shannon, who stated his cousins ​​had been attacked.

He admitted firing a shot in the air to stop the fight.

HCSO deputies found two firearms in the suspect’s vehicle, including a rifle with an empty cartridge case jammed in the chamber. Shannon was arrested for carrying a weapon on school grounds and reckless endangerment.

Officers also made contact with two other people who were injured in the incident. Hamilton County EMS was called to the scene and treated both individuals. They were evacuated on site.

Video evidence of the fight that took place was obtained, which appeared to show the other suspects involved in the attack, it said.

HCSO CID was also called to the scene.

The sheriff’s office said, “We would also like to thank the Chattanooga and Collegedale Police Departments for their assistance with this incident.”
