46-year-old man arrested for attempted sexual assault on minor in Coimbatore | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: A 46-year-old man was arrested on Friday for sexually harassing a six-year-old girl in a nearby village Karamadai here on September 30th.
The arrested man was identified as P Badrasamy46, from a village near Karamadai. He is a day laborer.
Police said a six-year-old girl, a Class I student of a panchayat union primary school, was playing near her house when Badrasamy, who was under the influence of alcohol, tried to remove her clothes. The girl started crying loudly. and neighbors who heard her rushed to her aid while Badrasamy managed to escape.
When the girl’s parents, who are also daily wage labourers, returned home around 8pm, locals informed them about the incident. They then contacted the police control room after which Tamizharasan, a police constable from Karamadai police station, visited the house and conducted questioning of the girl and her parents.
They then lodged a formal complaint with the police on October 2nd. Police registered a case against Badrasamy under some sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Pocso) Act. A special team formed to arrest him arrested him on Friday.
He was brought before a judge and later remanded in custody.
