Ole Miss academic advisor charged with child enticement

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WLBT/WTVA) – A grand jury has indicted a former West Union Attendance Center teacher and Ole Miss academic advisor for allegedly luring a 17-year-old student.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said a grand jury indicted Lauren Kennamore, 36, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, for enticement of a child.

Officials sent her to the county jail that same day.

According to the indictment, the alleged crime occurred between February and March 2024.

The sheriff said the school district fired her as a result.

According to the university’s website, Kennamore works as an academic advisor at Ole Miss.

Director of News and Media Relations Jacob Batte confirmed the university placed her on leave on Wednesday.
