R. Kelly’s daughter accused singer of sexual abuse: ‘I was too scared to say it…’

R&B superstar R Kelly is currently behind bars after being charged with racketeering and sex trafficking in 2021. While the singer is spending his time in prison, his daughter Baku Abi accuses him of serious allegations.

Baku, also known as Joann Kelly, has accused her father of sexually abusing her as a child. She made the shocking allegations in a new documentary Karma: A Daughter’s Journey for the TVEI Streaming Network.

In the first two episodes, she accused the singer of molesting her when she was 10 years old.

“He was my everything. For a long time I didn’t even want to believe it happened. I didn’t know he would hurt me even if he was a bad person,” she says in the first episode of the documentary, according to People.

She added: “I was too scared to tell anyone. I was too afraid to tell my mother.”

Without revealing many details, Kelly said she believes prison is a “well-suited place” for Kelly because she knows this from her “personal experience.”

Baku said her mother, Andrea, was the first person she told about it.

“I really feel like that one millisecond completely changed my entire life and who I was as a person and how the shine that I had and the light that I carried was changed,” she says. “After I told my mother, I stopped going there; my brother [Robert] and sister [Jaah]We didn’t go there anymore. And even up to now I have a lot of trouble with it.”

Joanne tearfully recalled the shocking experience and said she was eight or nine years old when Kelly abused her.

“I just remember waking up to him touching me,” she recalled. “And I didn’t know what to do, so I just laid there and pretended to be asleep.”

Baku and her mother then even filed a complaint against him.

“They couldn’t prosecute him because I waited too long. At that point in my life I felt like I had said something for nothing.”

Kelly has denied the allegations made against him by his daughter.

In a statement to People, his lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, said: “Mr. Kelly vehemently denies these allegations. His ex-wife made the same allegation years ago, which was investigated by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services and found to be unfounded.” .. And the “filmmakers,” whoever they are, have not contacted Mr. Kelly or his team to even allow him to deny these hurtful allegations.”

The Grammy winner is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence after being found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking.
