Halloween party shooting: 1 dead, at least 12 injured in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City police said the shooting was sparked by a “verbal altercation” between two groups at Patty’s Event Center around 12:30 p.m. local time. Eventually they took the argument to the parking lot and shots were fired. What sparked the fight currently remains a mystery.

“These people then went back into the event center where the shooting continued,” Sergeant Jon Skuta of the Oklahoma City Police Department told CNN.

According to the New York Post, a male victim was pronounced dead at the scene and at least 12 people were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Two of those injured people were treated in critical condition at a local hospital.

There had been no arrests as of early Saturday. However, Skuta announced that some people had been arrested. Although the details are still unclear due to the ongoing investigation, several armed men are said to have been involved in the shooting with rifles. Additionally, officers are reportedly reviewing cell phone videos.

The party’s number of employees has not yet been announced.

Although no suspect has been named in connection with the shooting, police said there is no threat to the public.
