Singer R. Kelly’s daughter accuses him of sexually abusing her during her childhood

American singer-songwriter R Kelly’s daughter Buku Abi has claimed that she was sexually abused by her father during her childhood. She made the surprising revelation in a documentary on the TVEI Streaming Network.

The singer is already serving long prison sentences in connection with several sexual offenses.

Buku Abi, 26, said on the podcast that she used to think her father was “everything” and couldn’t come to terms with what he did to her. Abi said she was too scared to share her ordeal with her mother. “He was my everything. For a long time I didn’t even want to believe it happened. “I didn’t know he would do something to me even if he was a bad person,” the woman said in the interview documentary, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

In the two-part documentary, Abi’s mother Drea Kelly said the singer should not have abused her child. “What he did to me, he did to me. But you didn’t have to do it to my damn kids,” his ex-wife said.

“I really feel like that one millisecond completely changed my entire life and who I was as a person and how the shine that I had and the light that I used to carry inside of me was changed. “After I told my mother, I didn’t go there anymore,” Abi said loudly People.

She said she still struggles with her childhood trauma now. “My brother [Robert] and sister [Jaah]We didn’t go there anymore. And even up until now, I have a lot of trouble with it,” she said.

Kelly’s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean said People that the singer-songwriter “vehemently denied” these allegations.

The attorney said Kelly’s ex-wife made the same claim several years ago. The attorney claimed the allegations were investigated by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services and determined to be “unfounded.” The representative added that the documentary filmmakers did not give the singer a chance to deny the claims, which he described as “hurtful.”

Kelly was convicted of sex trafficking in 2021.
