Women and child hit and injured by car

A woman and a young girl were hit by a car and injured.

It happened just before 5pm BST on Friday as the 32-year-old was walking with the child on Longlands Road towards Marton Road in Middlesbrough.

Both were taken to James Cook Hospital, where the girl was later released, but the woman remains there in a serious condition.

The collision involved a gray Vauxhall Astra and Cleveland Police asked witnesses or anyone with footage of the scene to contact them.

The road was closed for several hours after the accident.
