2 arrested after assault at Williamstown High

A parent and student were arrested and two people were assaulted during a disturbance at Williamstown High School, police said.

According to Monroe Township police, a school employee and a faculty member were struck in the lobby around 9 a.m. Friday. The officer suffered injuries to his hands and face. A police report did not indicate any injuries to the faculty member.

“At no time was there any danger to our children,” police said in a post on the department’s Facebook page.

The incident prompted “a major police response,” according to the post. It said the school was temporarily suspended but then resumed normal operations.

No further details were released as the incident remains under investigation.
