Four men arrested after fatal knife attack in city center

Four men are being held in custody as part of a murder investigation after a man died following a knife attack in Canterbury, Kent Police said.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was found on High Street near the junction with St Margaret’s Street at around 11.30pm BST on Thursday.

Emergency responders attended the scene, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The four men arrested are in their 20s.

On Friday afternoon, police said searches had been carried out at properties on Herne Bay High Street and near Pine Tree Avenue in Canterbury as part of an ongoing investigation.

They added that they were working to reduce the police cordon that was set up on Canterbury High Street and St Margaret’s Street overnight.

Ch Insp Paul Stoner said: “We understand that this incident and its location has caused concern in the community and I would like to reassure people that we have a large team of officers and detectives working to establish the full circumstances determine.”
