GhostLight Theater presents “Rocky Horror Show – The Musical,” opening October 17th

A fully staged production by “The Rocky Horror Show – The Musical” is produced for the 2ndnd Back-to-back season at the GhostLight Theater in Benton Harbor beginning Saturday, October 17Th through Halloween weekend and Sunday, November 3rdapprox

Director: Paul Mow, Artistic Director of GhostLight, Choreography/Co-Director: Paige Mulick, Rock horror There will also be a different guest commentator every evening.

Note: This production is rated R and is intended for an adult audience only. Entry is only permitted to adults aged 18 and over without an accompanying parent/guardian.

Paul Mow explains that this hilarious cult classic is a tribute to the science fiction and horror B-movies of the 1930s to early 1960s. In this musical with music, lyrics and a book by Richard O’Brien, lovers Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover Dr. “Frank-N-Furter.” As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet encounter a house full of wild characters, including a rockin’ biker and a creepy butler. With elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.”

Beyond its cult status The Rocky Horror Show It is also widely claimed that he had an influence on countercultural and sexual liberation movements that followed from the 1960s onwards. It was one of the first popular musicals to portray fluid sexuality in a time of generational divide and lack of acceptance of sexual differences. Like the film adaptation, the musical is known for a long tradition of audience participation through callback lines and dressing up as characters from the show.

Audience members are encouraged to dress in all costumes to attend the show and a There is a costume competition where an award is given each evening for the best costume. In addition to audience callbacks, the event will feature a limited number of Rocky Horror “participation kits” for purchase, as well as beer and wine on Friday night.

The Live Orchestra Band consists of Glenn McFarland (drums), Emily Mikel-Rowe (saxophone), Evan Gillenwater (electric guitar) and Ivan Torres (bass).

Rocky Horror Show – The Musical will play at the GhostLight Theater on October 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th and October 31ststNovember 1st, 2nd and 3rd with ALL evening shows at 7:30 p.m. except Sunday matinees at 3:00 p.m. VIP tables for 2 people can be purchased, otherwise all seats are standing room only.
