UiTM steps in to arrange a family reunion after a tragic accident

DUNGUN: The management of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Terengganu branch will help organize a meeting between the family of the female suspects and the families of the victims of the tragic accident that claimed the lives of three students on Wednesday.

In a statement released on Saturday (October 12), UiTM said the initiative follows a request from the suspect’s family, who would like to personally apologize in a face-to-face meeting with the families of the three victims.

However, UiTM said it would wait for an appropriate time to ensure all parties were calm and emotionally prepared for the meeting.

“UiTM welcomes the intention and will try to contact the families of the victims so that the meeting can take place at a time convenient for all three families.

“Right now they need space to cope with the immense grief of the loss of their children,” the statement said.

It was reported that the husband of the driver, who is believed to be suffering from mental health issues, has expressed his desire to meet the victims’ families to apologize on behalf of his wife, in the hope that UiTM can help facilitate the meeting to enable.

In the same statement, UiTM also provided an update on another victim, Muhammad Ammar, Dane Mohammad Ridhuan, 20, saying that his condition has reportedly improved and he is being cared for by his parents, who take turns looking after him.

The victim’s family is also satisfied with the accommodation and other support provided by UiTM. -Bernama
