A D.C. man was arrested for sexually assaulting a person while they were sleeping, according to police

WASHINGTON (DC News now) – The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced Friday that it has arrested a man for a burglary and sexual assault in August.

Around 1 a.m. on August 1, 34-year-old Niko Cherry walked into someone’s home in the 3400 block of 13th Street NW, according to MPD. Once inside, he approached a person who was sleeping in their home.

He attempted to have unwanted sexual contact with the person, which awoke the victim.

Two have been arrested in a fatal shooting at the Foot Locker store in Prince George’s County

Cherry fled the scene.

He was arrested more than two months later and charged with first-degree burglary and fourth-degree sexual assault.
