Rockford police are getting into the Halloween spirit

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The Rockford Police Department is getting into the spooky spirit a little early this year as it hosts its second annual Halloween party on Friday.

Community members were invited to participate in a variety of family activities.

RPD’s Strong House was converted into a haunted house and food was donated by Chick-fil-A and Curran’s Apple Orchard.

Aaron Murphy, Rockford Police Department Community Service Officer for District 2, says the event is about showing area children that they have a place to be, but also a place who they can turn to if they need resources.

“As a police department, we want to get to know our community and strengthen ties with the community,” Murphy said. “…we want to know who lives in this neighborhood so we can hang out, be friends and build a relationship.”
