LoP calls Delhi CM Atishi’s road work claims ‘drama’

Delhi’s Leader of Opposition (LoP) Vijender Gupta sharply criticized Chief Minister Atishi’s recent comments about her willingness to work on the streets. Gupta accused AAP ministers and leaders of staging daily “dramas” under the leadership of their chief Arvind Kejriwal.

“Every evening they prepare a script for the next day’s drama and now the scriptwriter is the ‘dummy’ Prime Minister Atishi,” Gupta remarked. He called her claims absurd and pointed out that despite spending Rs87 million to renovate the Prime Minister’s Office, Atishi insists she prefers to work on the streets.

Gupta dismissed Atishi’s claim as a publicity stunt. “First she pretended to work as a ‘dummy’ CM with an empty chair for Kejriwal, then she cast Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and now she claims she is ready to work on the streets,” he said and asked , whether Atishi is the CM of a state or the managing director of a theater group.

He also criticized the wasteful use of taxpayers’ money, noting that Rs 87 crore was used for lavish decoration of the CM’s office, making it more luxurious than seven-star hotels, while Rs 50 crore was spent on Kejriwal’s residence. “If this Rs 87 million had been used for road repairs, Delhi roads would be in a much better condition,” Gupta claimed.

Gupta condemned the AAP for putting its political interests above the needs of the public, stressing that the party’s extravagant spending highlights its disregard for residents’ problems. “The people of Delhi will soon respond by removing AAP from power,” he predicted.

Adding to his criticism, Gupta termed a recent video released by the AAP on social media as a “blatant lie”. The video credited the Delhi government with beautification projects in Dwarka, which, as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) clarified, were not completed by the state government but implemented by the central government. “This is the culmination of the AAP’s lies,” Gupta said. “It is shameful that they are taking credit for the central government’s development work.”
