Read he was given 12 years for assault with a vehicle

A Decatur woman who police say ran over a woman and rammed a vehicle into a home last year pleaded guilty to multiple felonies and was sentenced to prison.

Allyson Sage Read, 25, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, both second-degree felony counts, as well as willfully/knowingly/recklessly abandoning/endangering a child/criminal negligence and criminal mischief in Amount from $2,500 to $30,000. both state prison felonies. Court records show Read entered her guilty plea Thursday in the 271st District Court in Decatur and was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the first two counts and two years for the second two counts. The sentences will run simultaneously.

Read has been in the Wise County Jail since the incident, which occurred on July 3, 2023, at a home on County Road 1560 in Chico.

According to the indictment, Read struck two people with a vehicle, resulting in serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon. It also states that Read entered a residence without the homeowner’s consent and attempted to assault the homeowner or assaulted the homeowner, resulting in a residential burglary.

The charge of negligent bodily harm is based on property damage amounting to between $2,500 and $30,000, the indictment states.

According to Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin, officers responded to the scene and found evidence that Read had arrived at the home and gotten into a domestic dispute with other people in the home. After running over a victim, Read rammed the porch and front door, causing extensive damage to the home and vehicle.

Read then got into the vehicle and parked at a nearby store before walking back to the house and continuing the argument, Akin said.
