A passenger train traveling from Mysore to Darbhanga collided with a stationary goods train at Kavaraippettai railway station in Tiruvallur district near Chennai. The express train’s parcel car caught fire and 19 passengers were reportedly injured. At least twelve carriages of the passenger train also derailed.

A passenger train traveling at a speed of 75 kmph hit a stalled goods train at Kavaraippettai railway station in Tiruvallur district near Chennai around 8:30 pm on Friday. The train went onto a loop route instead of the main line, causing at least 12 cars to derail and 19 passengers to be injured, railway officials said. A parcel truck also caught fire.
