Maine, NH Stolen Car and Truck Police Pursuit Thursday – NECN

A man led police on multiple chases through Maine and New Hampshire on Thursday in increasingly larger vehicles, ending with a dump truck, police said Friday.

The manhunt ended when Garrett Littlefield, of Alfred, got out of the dump truck at a gas station in Bridgton and tried to steal a couple’s Subaru Outback, according to Maine State Police, which had previously shared limited information about the manhunt, although 33 years old They warned anyone who saw him to call 911 and not to approach him.

Another person, Shantel Rodriguez of Biddeford, was also arrested; According to police, both are facing a number of charges. It was not immediately clear whether they had lawyers who could speak to those arrested.

The pursuit began about 10 a.m. in Acton and Newfield, Maine, police said, when sheriff’s deputies alerted them that Littlefield was in a stolen 1986 Chrysler LeBaron and was driving to New Hampshire at times. While officers managed to disable the car, Littlefield managed to run away, stealing a nearby blue Ford F-150 and fleeing on side roads.

Drivers filed complaints about the pickup in Bridgton, but police didn’t discover it until it was found near a car dealership in Oxford, where police say a Chevy pickup was stolen.

According to police, this second pickup truck was seen running a stop sign on Route 121 in Otisfield at over 100 miles per hour. The officer pursued the truck to Casco, where police were able to disable the new vehicle – two tires came off and it crashed into a ditch.

Littlefield, 33, and Rodriguez, 22, ran away and the woman was quickly apprehended, but Littlefield escaped into the woods.

He was next heard from around 5:20 p.m. when a dump truck was reported traveling north on Route 302 at a high rate of speed and erratically, police said. The truck refused to stop for police but still pulled into a gas station on Route 302, where Littlefield allegedly got out and tried to force his way into a new car, the Subaru, at a gas pump. Littlefield was taken into custody and the couple who owned the Subaru were uninjured.

Both Rodriguez and Littlefield were taken to the hospital for evaluation before being transported to the Cumberland County Jail for booking. She is accused of assaulting a police officer and a police dog, resisting arrest and violating the conditions of her release.

Littlefield, who had a revoked driver’s license and was wanted on multiple felony warrants, was charged with evading, failing to stop, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, dangerous driving, theft, operating under suspension and violating the conditions of his release.
