East Bridgewater man arrested on child pornography charges after tip-off from biker group – Boston News, Weather, Sports

EAST BRIDGE WATER, MASS. (WHDH) – A 21-year-old East Bridgewater man was arrested on child pornography charges Thursday, according to police.

According to the East Bridgewater Police Department, Jason Giles was charged Friday with possession of child pornography, distribution of obscene material to a minor, enticement of a child under 16 years of age and portraying/exhibiting a child in a sexual act.

On Wednesday, police received a call from an Indiana woman who said she was an employee of Bikers Against Predators, a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to expose online predators in order to raise awareness and awareness among as many citizens as possible.” while these predators are being brought to justice for their crimes,” their website states.

At the same time, some members of the organization were at a home on Central Street in East Bridgewater, police said. They spoke to Giles, who they accused of having inappropriate contact with minors online.

Investigators determined that another third party contacted Giles via Facebook Messenger and posed as a teenage girl, police said. The group then contacted Bikers Against Predators, who discovered Giles’ identity and found him in East Bridgewater, where he lived with his parents, according to police.

“The defendant was forthcoming and admitted he believed he was talking to an underage girl,” prosecutor Matthew Pfaff said in court Friday. “He asked her a few times if it was okay if he got weird.”

Police discovered that Giles was in possession of child abuse videos and had been selling videos online, authorities said. Investigators confiscated his phone.

On Thursday, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Giles and took him into police custody.

Court documents show Giles has been arrested before. In 2022, when he was a senior in high school, he was caught using a school computer to send pornographic images of himself to a seventh-grader, according to police.

Giles’ attorney told the judge that her client is likely on the autism spectrum and had a difficult childhood.

“Mr. Giles has a history of being bullied, threatened and taunted. He had an extremely difficult time in middle and high school,” said defense attorney Lauren Rose.

On Friday, the judge set bail at $10,000 cash. Giles’ parents, who adopted him when he was three, were in the courtroom.
